what reunion tour would you shell out the big bucks for?
robert forster: the smiths. I think morrissey needs johnny marr really badly. I'd like to see the smiths get back, but at the same time I'll be happy if the talking heads don't get back. sarah dougher: dusty springfield. too bad cash can't snatch you from the jaws of death. elisabeth vincentelli: obvious choice is dusty springfield (ca. 1966). lora logic (ca. 1981), j. geils band (ca. 1975), ethel merman. ld flare: the (original) carter family. section 25. funkadelic. talulah gosh. sophie tucker. amelia marine research: the marine girls. douglas dark beloved cloud: unrest. I miss them so much. patrick yoyo: the beatles. alan licht: john coltrane quartet. harvey williams: biff bang pow, david ackles. aggi pastel: dump. sean high llamas: I normally avoid such goings-on. however, if push came to shove, I wouldn't mind seeing the united artists houseband performing with gene clark (dead, I know) songs from the l.a. sessions, gene clark's first solo record. stuart mogwai: slint. stooges. love. mike dropbeat/slumberland: hmm, probably the birthday party scott desimon: mission of burma, original N.O.U. line-up (w/kroner), magma sasha ui: sly and the family stone. budgie. isaac bess: isaac and the united states. chity moving pictures: I would give my savings for going to barcelona next week to enjoy club 8, girlfrendo, and the cherry orchard. I haven't got time, I can't. carrie sleater-kinney: the tentacles. louis philippe: the duke ellington orchestra ca. 19411942, with blanton and webster. fat chance of it happening! this way to the bone yard, sir! tim dagger: the go-betweens (I'm going to have to miss the date they're playing in san francisco in late june because I'll be in maui. I seriously thought about canceling the trip but my girlfriend would kill me!) liz clayton: the zombies; the embarrassment, maybe. the go-betweens. wait, I just did. guided by voices circa 1994? f.m. east river pipe: the andrea true connection/alicia pidges tour. come soon to a whorehouse near you! kendall mascott: tiger trap. bob and joanie. zombies. julie butterfield: the clash, wire, queen (w/freddie...I know, not possible). andrew beaujon: trio, yello, and sexual milkshake. sam quasi: the stooges. greg castaway stones: big star, no question. david silver jews: I'd pay $25 to see the smiths. dan saturday people: the free design or the castaway stones. emmanuel les inrockuptibles: the clash (not more than $40, though.) candice pedersen: I would have shelled out big bucks to see dusty springfield if I'd had the opportunity. I'm glad to hear that loretta lynn is playing again. if she comes to the northwest, I'm there. janet quasi/sleater-kinney: to see the london calling line-up of the clash would be worth some bucks, for sure. ian musical chairs: sneaky feelings. corin sleater-kinney: the runaways! I wish I could see the go-gos but I'll be out of town. franklin bruno: go-betweens with lindy morrison, or prisonshake with their original rhythm section (circa '88). lois: my very own 80s faves tour: the embarrassment, the neats and great plains. john electroscope: captain beefheart and the magic band (but I'd need a time machine as the captain isn't in good health these days) and the byrds before they fired david crosby (but gene & michael are dead, so the time machine would be working overtime). delia/scarlet day of the family way and ms c.c. rider of action time: I just paid 23 quid to see lee hazlewood when he plays the r.f.h. I'd shell out to see great society definitely!! tim hopkins: none. any reunion tour worth its salt is done for the love and curiosity, in back bars and church halls. I'm lying. I'd give anything to see the claim again. evelyn hurley: slant 6. gavin o'hara: canadian stars of arena rock featuring loverboy, april wine and saga. jim o'rourke: 1974 line up of sparks, 1974 king crimson, original golden palominos lineup circa the first record, original magic band with or without the captain. richard davies: boston, steve miller of course, and toto. john magnetic fields: XTC, king crimson. jeff kickstand: the original modern lovers -- jonathan richman, jerry harrison, ernie pooks & dave robinson -- kim fowley and john cale arm wrestling over who will twiddle the knobs. richard versus: the clash and unrest. rob marine research: only ones, josef k. christopher future bible heroes: ABBA, no explanation needed. roxy music's original lineup, when they had a good drummer, and the word "eno" meant something more intriguing than the name of an antacid powder. tom international airport: the famous boyfriend / lazy mary. peter marine research: television; birthday party. tim harriet: crass paul beer frame: richard & linda thompson. plus a million others, but don't get me started... sue garner: george jones and tammy wynette. something I'd pay big bucks to see, even though they were never a band they made some great records together: aretha franklin with david hood and roger hawkins backing her up! graeme verlaines: I shelled out to see the sex pistols when they came out a coupla years back. I'm glad I did but I can't think who else would tempt me. there's a few defunct NZ bands I would shell out for but they are mostly too defunct (ie dead) to make a comeback. mateo siesta: the free design, the monochrome set, the association, fantastic something, mccarthy, mighty mighty. gail cf: shop assistants. black tambourine. nick drake. talulah gosh. the pooh sticks. the smiths. the zombies. robert dennis: while a reunion's always cause for celepation, sometimes what you really wanted was a trip back in time. while time-travel often can ping on nausea and dizziness, I'd risk it and pay the ticketmaster surcharge to see a stooges/faith healers/young marble giants show. gerard cosloy: the current exploited / varukers / vice squad tour that's crisscrossing the U.S. is awfully tempting, but it would be much more fun to let gary at matador put on a tape of any of the above (cheaper, too). I wouldn't mind seeing the gories or pitchblende play again, but most of the time bands have pretty good reasons for peaking up. katrina jeepster: ride and the smiths. mike caught in flux: the marine girls, grab grab the haddock, and everything but the girl (performing songs from first 7" and eden only!). claudia the magnetic fields: laurie anderson's "united states" show, in its entirety. tim keegan: lee hazlewood/nancy sinatra. rick brown: if santana's first album lineup of carlos, chepito areas, michael carabello, david pown, mike shrieve and greg rolie got it back together, I'd be there! the millionaire combustible edison: none of the musicians I'd like to see are currently among the living. although I guess I would cough up to see the monks, if I could be guaranteed that they'd be good.
